A Spooky Bible Halloween

This morning Holly received her Bible at Church. She was very excited to have her own Bible and I am excited for her to find a favorite verse! We are so happy with our new church community. Grandpa and Grandma Derickson, Papa, Uncle Scott, Jackie, Thomas and Janessa all came to church with us. Ethan had fun playing with Janessa in the Nursery and Tom got to try out our Church! After Church we enjoyed brunch as a family, celebrating the events of the morning! Disney…Then and Now

So the Derickson-Hughes Family has made three trips to DisneyWorld and one to Disneyland. I went in 2003 with my parents and my brother, in 2004 with my Mom and Holly (Disneyland), we went again in 2007 with Noah and Scott and just got back (2010) on Monday! Here is a sneak peek of pictures from our trip and a look back at past trips! Holly and the "Hot Spot" [caption id="attachment_202" align="aligncenter" width="409" caption="2003"][/caption] In 2003, Grandpa Mike set Holly on this Fuente de la Fortuna. For years she would look at the picture and remember it being HOT! Whenever we go to the Magic Kingdom we visit the fountain and take her picture! Little Red Baseball Boy

Let me tell you a little bit about this boy and the color Red...... One of Ethan's more "colorful" masterpieces Ethan....... -only uses RED markers and Crayons...if you hand him any other color he will get mad at you. -saves all of his Red fruit snacks and Red M and M's for last. - chooses to only play with the red matchbox or Lightning McQueen car; this causes many fights! - likes to bowl over the red bowling pin...one is better then 10! I am guessing that his unique obsession with the color red and balls has led him to his newest word.....baseball! “I have 2 names, Noah and Thomas”

It was fun to see all the preschoolers in their costumes. Noah had fun playing games like, Go Fishing, Bean Bag Throw and Bat Baseball. He received lots of fun treats from his friends! He says he will share with me becauseI didn't get to have any fun at the party!

Noah at College

Today I took Noah to the University of Minnesota. He was participating in a study for the Institute of Child Development. The study was about Moral Trust. I hope his answers help....I am not sure they were what the researcher was looking for. Noah said, "I really like my new sckool!" Noah had a choice of a $10 Target Gift Card or a T-shirt...he picked a yellow T-shirt (darn), but I was glad he didn't want the pink colored one! Future Gopher?

The Countdown Began……

The countdown began..... and ended today! We are off to DISNEY WORLD!

E’s Assessment

After hours of being assessed, we have a plan for Ethan's language. It is all centered around his lack of articulation. Here are a few comments off his IFSP (Individual Family Service Plan): Difficulty focusing and attending to tasks (those not involving a ball) Difficulty complying with tasks and activities  (not involving a ball) Ethan is attempting to communicate using vocalization and nonverbal strategies (grabbing, hitting nodding) He used "no" to protest and refuse; he labeled a ball/ba; he gained his mother's attention using "mama"; and he labeled Buzz LightYear /ba. He used approximation for his brother's name 'wawa'/Noah. However, he also used this same sound combination when referring to items/actions not related to Noah. That's our Ethan, always with a ball/ba! He even sleeps wit ha ball!
